An oil painting i did in class last semester.
I had a lot of fun in that class, and I learned more than I ever thought I could. It became more about the process than anything else when it came to these paintings. It was almost therapeutic and almost no thinking went into the act of painting at all... everything like the color choices etc were so intuitive.
And I think it has to do with my personality more than anything else that causes me to skip the "photorealistic" route of still life painting. I like to work fast, and not for long, so immediately I make it impossible for me to work on a painting for more than a few hours. Even my large canvas paintings I'd done for homework in that class never breached the 8 hour mark. Anyhow, I think photorealistic still life is something worth learning and i tried to do at least one in my class, but I'm much more a fan of loose brushtstrokes and exaggerated color. I love that an apple can be painted in no more than 4 big brushstokes, and in less than 2 minutes.
Enough of my rambling, you must all think i'm insane, especially compared to how little i write in all my other pieces. But that's because this is better than any of that.
I totally understand where you're coming from. I find photorealistic paintings kind of boring. It's so much more interesting to see quick furious strokes rather than a mass of perfectly blended colors.
Wow.
WOW.
That's like... a REALLY nice painting.
I love the color's criss cross effect... (At least, it looks like that to me.)
Love the tea pot and the apple.
I love the shininess and the transparency. You tackle a lot of difficult surfaces with such ease! Every brushstroke you make is so important, like how you said an apple can be made in 4 strokes. I need to learn how to do stuff like that
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
